Living on ‘Persevere’ has been a lifestyle choice, but also a practical one
- We have travelled a lot with work in the past so it has been important that ‘Persevere’ is just 25 miles from Gatwick Airport for International travel, with good bus links to Brighton, rail links through to London and motorway directly to the M25 and all points North, East and West. The Ferry to France departs just half a mile down the river from Newhaven harbour which also welcomes freighter traffic and has its own marina.
- There is beautiful walking, hiking and cycling literally ‘on the doorstep’ along the Sussex Downs Way. We walk our two dogs in the park alongside that is protected by a preservation order or along the towpath to Piddinghoe Village. The hardy hiker can continue on to Lewes or in the other direction to Eastbourne.
- We have a small 22-foot yacht moored also on site that can be sailed out to sea on the high tide and by arrangement with the helpful bridge controller and Newhaven Harbour.
- The mooring benefits from 24-hour CCTV security, servicing of the mooring and parking directly alongside;
- Two major supermarkets (Sainsbury’s and Lidl) plus an assorted range of smaller shops and takeaways are nearby; Newhaven town has just received a grant for refurbishment and renewal of the town centre.
